Mum finds dirty dancing

I have just come back from a weekend of dirty dancing! I had The Time Of My Life and I owe it all to a group of Scousers!

We went away for the weekend to Nottingham and I had an absolutely WONDERFUL time. The girls - I only knew two previously, were so friendly. We were there for a Dirty Dancing weekend and we were going to get a dance lesson and watch the film.

It didn’t quite go to plan - a man who looked like Mr Tumble from Cbeebies was hosting the event. He ran and skipped around like some excited, old butler. He told us we would be singing instead of watching the film - very interesting BUT we did get the dance class and that was just great.

It was such good fun, I felt as though I was rehearsing for Strictly Come Dancing! I always thought I wasn’t a bad dancer but having seen the video back I’m not so sure!

It was brilliant being back in Nottingham too. It’s where I went to University but it’s changed beyond recognition. There are trams there now. Mind you I did graduate in 1997.

All I recognised were the pubs and my bank - doesn’t that just tell its own story about student life!

I missed the husband and daugher loads though and I couldn’t wait to phone every morning - and again through the day!

The daughter told me she missed me and it nearly broke my heart. Apparently she was quiet and the husband asked what was wrong.

“I miss Mummy,” she said. He told her I’d be back that day and she shouted “Yippee”. How loved am I!!

The husband was amazing too - I came back to a sparkly home and a new duvet cover on the bed. He coped brilliantly. Not sure if I’m pleased by that or not!

Anyway, seeing as a weekend was no trouble maybe I should go for longer next time….taxi please.
