What’s On’ in Warrington

What's On Guide |

warrington.jpgWarrington is a large town in Cheshire. It is situated beside the M6, M56 and M62 motorways. It is on the north bank of the River Mersey and alongside the Manchester Ship Canal.

In spite of its proximity to significant retail areas in Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and the out-of-town Trafford Centre, Warrington continues to have one of the larger shopping centres in North West England. Despite this competition, Warrington has seen an increase in its customer trade, due in part to the modernisation of the town centre.

The town also has two railway stations so is a good area for commuters.

Mum-of-one Nicola Hallmark takes us on a tour of her town!

What’s Warrington like?

We’ve been here a few years but we work out of town. Since I’ve had Penny I’ve been along to The Children’s Centre. They offer a class called Tiny Starts. It’s for under ones and it brings Mums together. It’s nice to know there are people who are going through the same things as you. It’s a really good facility and they even have a Health Visitor on hand.

It’s quite a central area in the North-West of England.

It’s central for getting into Liverpool or Manchester so there are lots of opportunities to go to museums or the theatre as she gets older.

What do you do with Penny?

We try to go for walks everyday. Even though we’re quite near to a park, I find it quite isolating going out on your own with the baby.

Gulliver’s World is in Warrington too.

I can’t wait to go to that because I love things like that myself. It’s a theme park for smaller children so they have little rides. I’d say it was more for primary aged children.

How do you find getting out and about with the pushchair?

It’s not too bad. It is quite hard to get in and out of shops though.

How are breastfeeding facilities?

We could go to a few larger stores but if you’re just out and about you have to go and use the changing facilities or the disabled toilet. I don’t want to be feeding my baby where they change nappies or there’s a toilet. It isn’t very comfortable.

Hi, with regards to breastfeeding, Marks and Spencers in Warrington Town centre are very helpful when it comes to providing a changing room in both in the ladies department and underwear department upstairs, allowing you to relax and care for your babies needs.

Was down staying at the Village Warrington hotel and was surprised at just how much there is to do in Warrington, went skiing and all sorts.
